Oh Paper

When I am lazy I let the shred pile stack up.
Valette likes to make as much noise as possible.
 And eat it, of course.
Lexi tries to get attention at every possible moment.
If I sit on the floor to play with Valette, Lexi runs in for the kill to try and steal all the attention.

My 3rd Child

On March 10, 2011 my newest child arrived:

The Canon EOS 7D.

I am loving it!  It is beautiful to look at and even better, it takes magnificent photos!  I have never gotten to work with a camera that is this skilled or has this great of a lens before.  It's like I'm spoiled.

These are some images I took the night it came.
That's right, night photos. Unedited.  Just look at this beauty.

I was demonstrating to Eric how true-to-life the M&M colors are.

Yes, Lexi (my first child, incase you were wondering) is still alive.  But since Valette was born she thinks she is so very attention starved.  I promise I still pet and feed my dog. She is just such a lover that Valette coming to live in her house has really disrupted her.

Here I was playing with the lens.  It has great depth of field, I didn't move but I switched from focusing on the front to the inside and the 3 inch difference was enough to blur the other flower.  My old camera/lens couldn't do that. *Big Grin*

Finally a Place to Sleep

We've had Lexi for a year now.

The day we brought her home Eric set out a blanket at the end of our bed to be her bed. She would go to it when we told her bed time, but every morning I found her on the carpet in front of it, and twice I found her chewing on it and ripping the material. The second time I caught her I said alright, if you prefer the floor anyway, have it, and I put away the blanket.

One morning in December (so she had lived with us for over 3 months) I woke up to find her in this box:

At the time the blanket was not in it and one of my sweatshirts apparently was. Also, it was not ripped, that came from use.

I thought her choosing that box was really funny and if she wanted it that was fine by me, so we put the chewed-corner blanket in and this was her official adopted bed. Really not quite big enough for her but it was free and she didn't mind--so why not?

Until this weekend. We finally bought her a real doggy bed. (On clearance, at Ross, and black to match our room--sweet)

It had silly zebra print so we turned it inside out, swapped it for the box with her in a different room and then I came and told Lexi, "go to your bed."

She went straight for it because she is smart like that. She spent a few minutes sniffing it all over and then sat very contentedly on it.

This is just the right size, she can actually spread out on it--unlike her box. Also, some genius decided it didn't need a front side so it works even better than expected.

What a happy puppy. =)

And cute. Oh yes.

We have an Announcement

NO, I'm sorry, I'm not pregnant. Someday I will be able to announce that.....someday. But for now Eric and I have a puppy. She is one year old and already house trained. =) We wanted to get a puppy after we bought this house since now we would have a back yard. But we had been worried what are we gonna do to train it becuase neither of us are home during the day to teach it. So my Aunt Joy one day called my mom and said she knew the perfect puppy for us. (Daren and Cindy got Bob from the same lady.)

There is a Schnauzer Rescue Service that has volunteers who take care of the dogs. And we got to take her home for only $150. That is a serious deal.

This is Lexi:

She really likes our bed skirt. Sometimes she gets stuck when she rolls over on her back and it takes her a few minutes to figure out how to get back up. It's pretty funny.
Lexi came to the rescue service with a massive 3rd degree burn on her entire back. Joy says the first time she saw Lexi her back looked like raw hamburger meat. (That was about a month before I saw her the first time.) The vet who took care of Lexi thinks that from th eshape of the burn, something very hot--probably boiling--was spilled all over her. Then the owner waited 2 full weeks before even seeking veterinary help, at which point the burn was very infected. When told it would cost almost $1000 dollars for treatment and pain medicine the owner did not want to pay for it. He had 2 choices: put her to sleep (which he would have had to pay for) or give her to the Rescue Service.
She is completely healed now, and hair has grown back on about 90% of the burned area. She is the sweetest dog and a big attention hog. We love having her around.
